“Maisy, Maisy, give me your answer do.” Oh, sorry, it was a “Daisy” in that song! But Maisy is as sweet and adorable as a Daisy. She is a three-year-old Shepherd mix. Formerly known as Bella, Maisy was surrendered by her owner along with her sister, Izzy, to the Duplin County Shelter in North Carolina. Maisy was very frightened in the shelter, and it took days for the shelter volunteers to gain her trust and get her heartworm test done which, unfortunately, came back positive.
Maisy and her sister Izzy were surrendered to the shelter on July 20th. Izzy was very social and was rescued quickly, poor Maisy didn’t understand why she was in the shelter. She wouldn’t let anyone near her until she was finally convinced she was safe. After she was found to be heartworm positive, Ruby’s Misfits Animal Rescue agreed to accept her into their program if they could get help funding her heartworm treatment. RADAR said “yes!” to a grant for Maisy (RADAR and Ruby’s Misfits also worked together to help Izzy). She had her heartworm treatment on August 18th and will be fostered until she finds her forever home.
According to her foster, “Maisy loves playing in the yard, and she’s been known to hoard her food. She’s very timid and shy but loves to be loved on and gives love right back.” She’s coming out of her shell daily and her foster family is completely in love with her. RADAR paid all of Maisy’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $270.
