Oh, Mandy! Cute as a button, little Mandy is always ready for fun! A two- to three-year-old Hound mix, she arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on October 30th after she was picked up as a stray by animal control. Unfortunately, Mandy was heartworm positive, making it all the more difficult for her to secure a rescue commitment.
On January 3rd, To Love A Canine Rescue in Southeast Pennsylvania offered to take Mandy, provided her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, asked for our help and we agreed! She received her heartworm treatment on January 22nd.
The shelter had this to say about Mandy: “This joyful smaller-sized girl is very playful with other dogs and enjoys running and romping. She met other dogs both male and female, and was friendly with all. She enjoyed every chance she got to stretch her legs in the exercise area and chase a ball. She would be best suited to a kitty-free home because she would chase a running kitty just for fun. A home with older children would be a good fit too since Mandy is so playful. She’s such a bright-eyed and alert little girl, and would love to bring some of her Mandy sunshine into your home!” Click here to view more photos of Mandy.
RADAR paid all of Mandy’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $212.
