Emaciated Marvin was given the nickname Starvin’ Marvin when he arrived as a stray on October 25th at the Lee County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. The two to three-year-old Boxer-Shepherd mix weighed only 30 pounds instead of his ideal weight of 50-60 pounds. To make matters worse for Marvin, he tested positive for heartworms. Month after month passed without any rescue or adopter interest.
Finally, on February 2nd, there was a rescue ready to take Marvin. Eunoia Rescue in South Carolina was willing to take him if the cost of his heartworm treatment could be provided. Brandi Sowell, RADAR’s liaison with the Lee County Animal Shelter, turned to us for help, and we agreed. Marvin received his heartworm treatment on May 24th.
The shelter shared this about Marvin: “Even though his former life wasn’t good, he loves and trusts all people and kids. He is incredibly sweet! He’s super tolerant with other dogs, including puppies.” The rescue had this to say about him: “Marvin definitely needs a backyard. He tends to have some separation anxiety, so he will need a patient owner. He does well with other dogs and absolutely adores attention from people; however, he does not like cats.” Click here to view more photos of Marvin.
RADAR paid all of Marvin’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $275.
