Max’s credit card is maxed out but he’s not broke! This three-year-old Shepherd-Hound mix came into the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on August 8th. Max is rich in good manners, poise and personality; but poor in luck. At the shelter he was found to be heartworm positive, and due to a full house, he was on the dreaded PTS list for October 8th.
On October 4th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, appealed to us to help with Max’s heartworm treatment. RADAR immediately provided an offer to assist in order to encourage a rescue to pull Max. The next day Good Shepherd K-9 Rescue in New York agreed to take him! Recalled to life, Max received his heartworm treatment on October 14th. Now he has his paw out asking for help with his medical bills!
On a walk with Max at the shelter, Susan remarked on how delightful she found his transformation from a hapless street mutt to a jaunty, smiling, “hail-fellow-well-met” sidekick. Max, always the gentleman, stayed by Susan’s side, attentive to her cues, eager but calm. To see more photos of Max, click here.
RADAR paid all of Max’s heartworm treatment costs, totaling $341.
