Meet Max! His former family was headed out of town, so they decided to simply surrender Max to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. When Max arrived at the shelter on June 27th, he had no clue what happened to his home life, but he did his best to adjust to his new reality. Unfortunately, this three-year-old Shepherd-Lab mix tested positive for heartworms.
On September 8th, Caring for Creatures in Virginia offered to take Max if his heartworm treatment costs could be covered. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, immediately asked for our help. We agreed and Max received his heartworm treatment on September 19th.
“Max is a very sweet and energetic dog,” we were told. “Max is a lovely boy who is great with other dogs and also with children. His striking eyes are sure to get your attention, along with his great personality. If you have a friendly resident dog who would enjoy a playmate, Max would be a great choice. Max stays hopeful that the next family he lives with will be forever and he will never have to face shelter life again.” Click here to view more photos of Max.
RADAR paid all of Max’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $290.
