What could be more trendy than to help the lovely Miss Mendy! Approximately four years old, Mendy is a Feist mix who arrived as a stray in mid-October at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina. Despite the networking efforts of many to find a rescue for Mendy, she lingered on at the shelter. A big reason for this was that she was heartworm positive. Several times her life was on the line at the shelter, but each time she managed to get a reprieve.
After four months of living in limbo at the shelter, on February 16th, Last Chance Animal Rescue in New York expressed interest in taking Mendy! There was just one thing needed: getting her heartworm treatment costs covered. The shelter reached out to RADAR the same day, and we immediately agreed to cover the costs. Mendy had her heartworm treatment done on March 18th.
Emily Ward, an advocate and photographer for the Chester County dogs, provided these observations based on her visits with Mendy at the shelter: “She is a very pretty girl! She was always very calm and quiet in her kennel. She would take treats gently from my hand. She never appeared to be shy of people, just very polite and proper with meeting them. She never got real excited. She was such a lady!” To see more photos of Mendy, click here.
RADAR paid all of Mendy’s heartworm treatment costs, totaling $200.
