The 1967 madcap musical comedy “Thoroughly Modern Millie” follows the adventures of a naive young woman who comes to New York during the Roaring Twenties to learn about life. Our Millie is another lovely young lady who had to learn about life the hard way. Millie is a two-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever mix who ended up heartworm positive at the Hampton County Animal Shelter in South Carolina, where she arrived on July 6th.
Mary Lou Seymour of the Shelter Animals Advocates and its Heart Beat Goes On program knew Millie had to be saved, so she began networking her to rescues on July 24th. Two days later, Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut came forward to take her. Just one catch: funds were needed for her heartworm treatment. Mary Lou asked RADAR for a grant and we immediately agreed to help this sweet girl.
Millie had her heartworm treatment on July 27th. Millie should have no problem finding a wonderful forever home. She is approximately 45 pounds, house trained, and nice to everyone she meets, two-legged or four-legged. It’s time for this girl to find her happy ending! Click here to view more photos of Millie.
RADAR paid all of Millie’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $292.
