Sometimes a little goes a long way. And for this six to eight-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound, $60 was all that Missy needed to go the 400 miles to the safety of a rescue and the comfort of a waiting foster home.
Missy arrived as an emaciated stray at the Pocahontas County Animal Control shelter in West Virginia on October 22nd. As is usually the case, no one came to claim her. And, as just another hound dog in a rural shelter, Missy was especially at-risk.
Fortunately for Missy, De Anna and her Advocates for Shelter Animals of Pocahontas Co., WV (ASAP), got the word out about her. As De Anna discovered, Missy has a such a sweet disposition. For more photos of Missy, click here.
In early December, the Burlington County Animal Alliance rescue in New Jersey agreed to take Missy, and had a foster, Karen, for her. All that De Anna had to do was get Missy’s initial vetting done and get her transported to Karen in New Jersey. De Anna had enough donations from her supporters to cover Missy’s vetting, but still needed to get her transported.
De Anna, with RADAR’s networking help, explored many options for Missy’s transport. Between logistics, limitations, holidays, etc., a paid transport was the best choice. With RADAR’s commitment to cover the $60 transport fee, Missy safely arrived at her foster home on January 5th.
RADAR has paid Missy’s transport fee of $60.
