Like Monty Hall, the famous TV host of “Let’s Make a Deal,” this Monty also wanted to make a deal — a deal to get out of the shelter. A two-year-old Boxer mix, Monty arrived as a stray at the Sampson County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on September 9th. With his easygoing personality and his friendly manners, Monty won over the hearts of the shelter staff and became one of their favorites. But despite this, Monty lingered at the shelter for many months. Testing heartworm positive limited his chances of getting rescued or adopted.
On December 4th, RADAR was asked to assist with Monty. Sampson County Friends For Animals in North Carolina decided that Monty had been at the shelter long enough. If RADAR would help with Monty’s heartworm treatment costs, they would pull Monty. We agreed in order to seal the deal. Monty was safely out of the shelter on December 8th and off to a foster home. His heartworm treatment took place on January 12th.
We were told this about Monty: “He is a very sweet and loving boy. He jumps right into the car and enjoys car rides. Monty has been very happy to take it easy since leaving the shelter! He’s become a bit of a couch potato. Monty is a very mellow and laid-back fellow. He walks easily on a leash. He is very social and listens well. Monty also knows his basic commands. He will make a wonderful family addition.” To view more photos of Monty, click here.
RADAR paid all of Monty’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $296.
