Mooch

Meet Mooch the pooch! At least 10 years old and a Pit Bull mix, Mooch was surrendered by her owner to the Smyth County Animal Shelter in Virginia on February 4th because she didn’t get along with other dogs. The shelter staff reported that Mooch was people friendly, showed no food aggression and seemed to get along fine with her immediate canine kennel neighbors. Because she was an owner surrender, she had no stray hold time, which meant that she could be euthanized at any time.

On February 6th, shelter animal advocate Kathryn Haddock asked RADAR to help with Mooch. We provided an offer to assist with Mooch’s vetting costs to help encourage a rescue to pull her. A few days later, All Mutts Matter Foundation in Delaware committed to taking Mooch. She had her initial vetting and senior blood tests done on February 26th. Mooch has some back leg issues that might be due to an old injury, and her blood work was abnormal.

One of her transporters, Amanda, told us that “Mooch was a sweetie on transport to the rescue. She didn’t mind being picked up when she had to be transferred from car to car.” Her rescue told us that “Mooch loves to eat! She loves to sleep in the chair and she likes humans. On walks she likes to smell everything. Mooch does not like cats or dogs, and was aggressive with one of our dogs. Once the vet figures out her health issues, if well enough, she will go to a trainer to work on her dog aggression.” To see more photos of Mooch, click here.

RADAR paid all of Mooch’s initial vetting and senior blood test costs, totaling $216.
