Hi, I am Mozart. And no relation to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! I am a large German Shepherd estimated to be five to seven years old, and perhaps even a bit older. But, hey, we’re all getting older! I’ve had a hard life. I was found in the yard of an elderly man. Instead of a collar, I had a logging chain hooked into the skin of my neck. Animal Control picked me up and took me to the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on December 10th. The first thing the folks at the shelter did was get that nasty chain removed from neck. What a relief that was!
The shelter contacted the Southern WV Animal League in West Virginia to see if they could take me. Southern WV Animal League immediately contacted RADAR to ask if they could help with my vetting costs. And what do you know, they agreed! My initial vetting took place on December 15th. I was off to my new foster home on December 17th, and just in time to enjoy the holidays!
I am a friendly, happy and good-natured guy. I get along very well with other dogs and I do not bother the cats in my foster home, even when they smack my nose! Sometimes when I am in the company of a lot of people and pets, it can be a bit too much for me and I get grouchy. For this reason, I need a space to call my own where I can decompress and have some quiet moments. I am very loving, and enjoy toys and walks. I love treats, and respond very well to rewards. I even know basic commands, and I will give you my paw to “shake hands!” Who says you can’t teach an older dog new tricks! To see more pictures of me, click here.
RADAR paid all of Mozart’s initial vetting and neutering costs, totaling $117.
