Ms. Brownie went from flying well below the rescue radar to being on the RADAR! Approximately five years old and a blend of Beagle, Dachshund and Labrador Retriever, Ms. Brownie was a stray who arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina way back on May 9th. For some reason, this great dog was overlooked for months by adopters and rescues. No doubt, her having heartworms didn’t help.
When Ms. Brownie finally had a rescue interested in her, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, wasted no time in seeking our help with Ms. Brownie’s heartworm treatment costs. Of course, we agreed, and Peppertree Rescue in New York committed to taking her! She received her heartworm treatment on September 12th.
The shelter had this to share with us regarding Ms. Brownie: “She is so glad to be in a foster home where she can get regular meals and plenty of hugs! She loves affection and is quick to roll over for a belly rub. She enjoys playing and running in the yard with other dogs. She is crate trained and well behaved. She is eager to please her person and wants to be loved. She would love a home of her own for the rest of her days.” To see more photos of Ms. Brownie, click here.
RADAR paid all $282 of the heartworm treatment costs, for Ms. Brownie.
