Nadia

The name Nadia means hope. But this Nadia was in a nearly hopeless situation. Estimated to be 15 years old, Nadia is a Border Collie mix who arrived at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on May 18th. Nadia was extremely thin and had no teeth. Her fur was so matted that most of it had to be shaved off. Despite being in such deplorable condition, the shelter reported that Nadia was super sweet. On June 6th, the shelter asked for RADAR’s assistance, and we immediately provided an offer to help with her vetting costs.

Later that same day, Greener Pastures No-Kill Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take Nadia! Operated by Samantha Frey, Greener Pastures provides sanctuary for the most severe cases of animal neglect, abuse and abandonment. On June 8th, Nadia was transported to Greener Pastures. Nadia had her initial vetting done on June 13th. The vet indicated that her jaw was broken at some point. Nadia also has a heart murmur and is anemic. The vet provided x-rays and other tests at no charge.

Samantha had this to share about Nadia shortly after her arrival: “The bones are just protruding from her frail body. It actually hurts to look at her. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a dog in this condition. This poor dog is in awful shape. Even though she is so frail, Nadia is more energetic than I thought she would be. She walks slowly, but is aware and alert! She follows us around wherever she can, but slowly! She is an amazing dog, who is so attentive and lovable. Nadia will want for nothing, and will be loved!” To view more photos of Nadia, click here.

RADAR paid all $199 of Nadia’s initial vetting costs.
