On June 1st, Long Trail Canine Rescue in Vermont reached out to RADAR with this message: “With RADAR’s help, we would like to rescue Nala from the Darlington County Animal Shelter in South Carolina. She is a little three-year-old Poodle mix who came into the shelter on May 15th with a late-term pregnancy and, unfortunately, heartworms. She gave birth to two puppies, but sadly one of them died. She has been a trooper with what she’s been through and trying to be the best mom she can to the one puppy she has left. We’d like to get her healthy, treated for heartworms and find a forever loving home for her.” Of course, we agreed to help.

A few days later Nala and her pup Ella were transported to the rescue. After weaning Ella, Nala received her heartworm treatment on October 15th. The good news is that Nala has found her perfect forever family. “She is treated like the queen she knows she is!” the rescue told us. “She has lots of furry friends she plays with and joins for walks, and she has two comfy laps to choose from. She politely shares her home with a feline friend and enjoys going on daily errands with her mom and dad.”

Nala’s pup Ella also got adopted and is now living the good life! “She has a very loving and playful canine companion teaching her how much fun it is to be a puppy, the rescue reported. “She is also a very treasured family member. There are many people to thank for the wonderful outcome of these two lovely beings and to RADAR for covering the costs of Nala’s heartworm treatment so she can live a healthy, happy life!” To see more photos of Nala, click here.

RADAR paid all $175 of the heartworm treatment costs for Nala.
