Let’s be frank, this Nathan is not a Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog, but instead, he is one cool dog! Two to three years old and a Labrador Retriever mix, Nathan was a stray who was admitted to the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on August 28th. He became very sick at the shelter, and had to be treated for intestinal parasites. Fortunately that issue was resolved. However, Nathan faced a far greater danger when he tested heartworm positive. He would need a rescue commitment to get out of the shelter alive.
Mary Lou Seymour of The Heart Beat Goes On program didn’t relish the thought of Nathan being euthanized for lack of a rescue. That just wouldn’t cut the mustard with her. So she had to play ketchup and promote Nathan to rescues. To help in her efforts she requested RADAR’s assistance for Nathan’s heartworm treatment costs. We agreed. On September 9th Operation Paws for Homes in Virginia stepped up to pull Nathan. Hot diggity dog! He had his heartworm treatment done on September 21st.
“He is such a nice little guy,” December Clark with The Heart Beat Goes On program told us. “Nathan keeps his kennel room clean. He loves to cuddle and will lay his head on you to be rubbed. I think he would be a wonderful friend for anyone.” Click here to view more photos of Nathan.
RADAR paid $300 towards the heartworm treatment costs for Nathan.
