Nicko, a seven-year-old Shepherd mix, knows the true meaning of family. He and his brother, an eight-year-old Rottweiler mix named Teddy, had only each other after they were surrendered to the Fairfield County Animal Control and Adoption Center in Winnsboro, South Carolina, on October 20th. Their owners were moving, and for some reason, they couldn’t take Teddy and Nicko with them. Since the bonded brothers were both seniors and heartworm positive, the two of them were at risk in the shelter.
Thankfully, Samira Yaghi, the volunteer networking and rescue coordinator at the Fairfield County Animal Control and Adoption Center, was looking out for the plucky pair. On November 6th, she contacted RADAR in hopes that we might be able to help them. We agreed to assist with the cost of their heartworm treatments as an incentive for a rescue to take them, and the two of them got their treatment on November 16th.
Samira said this about Nicko and Teddy: “This bonded pair is very sweet and loving! They still have a lot of spunk and energy. They really enjoy human attention and really enjoy each other’s company. After all, they only have each other right now.” Click here to view more photos of Nicko.
RADAR paid all of Nicko’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $375.
Your help is needed to help us cover our costs of helping Nicko. Please donate to his Fund now!
