The name Nylah means “winner,” and this two to three-year-old Lab mix named Nylah is sure to win your heart! She ended up at the Columbus County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on April 2nd as a stray. Not much was known about where she came from, but one thing was for sure: she needed help. Nylah had bad ear infections and tested positive for ehrlichia, whipworms, and heartworms. If Nylah wanted to find her forever home, she’d have to win a few battles first!

Thankfully, she didn’t have to do it alone. Karen Steers of Peak Lab Rescue in North Carolina reached out to RADAR on April 3rd to see if we would be able to assist with Nylah’s heartworm treatment. We agreed to assist, and she was safe! Nylah got her treatment on May 31st and June 1st.

Nylah has a gentle spirit and calm temperament that makes her the perfect fit for any family. We learned that during Nylah’s time with her foster family, she enjoyed being with her people and she really loved having a foster dog sister as a companion. She also has wonderful manners: she doesn’t pull the leash when walking, she’s gentle when meeting other dogs, and she loves toys and bones, but she knows not to take anything that isn’t hers. Sounds like a winner in our book, and we’re not the only ones who think so–Nylah has been adopted! Click here to view more photos of Nylah.

RADAR paid all of Nylah’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $181.
