Oscar

Hi! My name is Oscar. I’ve been asked to tell you my story. I’m about two years old and an Akita mix. Back on March 28th I was found wandering as a stray and taken to the Lenoir County SPCA shelter in North Carolina. While it was good to have food and shelter, what I really wanted was a home and family. But that was made all the more difficult because I had heartworms. I’m told that the only reason I survived as long as I did at this poor rural shelter was because I was so sweet!

Luckily for me, in early July the nice folks at Ruby’s Misfits Animal Rescue in North Carolina decided to try to take me. The only thing needed was money for my heartworm treatment. The rescue asked a great group called RADAR for help on July 10th, and they agreed to help me! The next day I was out of there and off to a wonderful foster home! I began taking my heartworm treatment medications on July 21st.

As for me, I’m very energetic, strong, and loving. I love to run and play with my foster sisters and brother. I especially love to play with my one foster sister since she’s around my age and we love to wrestle together. I’m house and kennel trained, and can sit and shake hands on command which proves that I am one smart dog! Aside from my smarts, I am called handsome a lot. I love to go for walks, and I sure love my humans! Click here to see more photos of me!

RADAR paid all of Oscar’s heartworm treatment medication costs, which totaled $250.
