Meet Ray, our inspiration for RADAR. Until 2011, he was living and loving his life with his human parents. Unfortunately, his Mom died. Ray didn’t understand, and waited patiently next to his Mom’s favorite chair.
Almost every day, his Dad would take him for a car ride. Then one day, Ray’s Dad decided to take the car out for a short time, and leave Ray at home. As it turns out, Ray’s Dad was in a car accident, and later died. This left Ray all alone.
There were some kind-hearted people who were took care of Ray, but one day Ray got out. He ended up in the Tucker County Animal Shelter in Parsons, WV. He was very lucky to end up at this shelter, under the loving care of Cathy and her staff, who tried their best to help him. For dogs in a shelter, he had two major strikes against him – he was both a black dog and a senior dog.
They soon realized that Ray had major dental problems, which was probably caused by him being fed inexpensive food. They needed to get his teeth fixed, so that this health issue wasn’t yet another strike against him. They had his dental work done, but needed to raise funds to pay for the vet care. Cathy told us that after his teeth were fixed, she saw such a difference in Ray – he was happy, playful, and seemed younger!
Ken and Rick heard about Ray and his medical bill, and stepped up to pay the bill for the Shelter. We are happy to report that Ray found his forever home in November 2011, and Ray is one of the reasons that we wanted to do more to help other at-risk dogs.
