There’s no knowin’ who owned Owen! The two-year-old German Shepherd arrived as a stray at the Greenwood County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on July 3rd. The handsome and regal Owen weighed in at 82 pounds. Unfortunately, he also tested positive for heartworms.
Mary Lou Seymour and the devoted folks with the Shelter Animals Advocates and its HeartBeat Goes On program immediately began their efforts to find a rescue for Owen. On July 9th, Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut expressed interest in taking Owen. However, funds would be needed for his heartworm treatment. Mary Lou requested our assistance and we agreed to help.
On July 24th, Owen received his heartworm treatment. December Clark, also with Shelter Animals Advocates and The HeartBeat Goes On, shared this with us about Owen: “He’s a nice boy. He clearly lived outside since he wasn’t potty trained. He’s full of love and wants to connect with his people. He’s good with other dogs.” Click here to view more photos of Owen.
RADAR paid all of Owen’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $343.
