If this dog were to open a chain of Mexican fast-food restaurants, he could call it Paco Bell! On December 17th, this 10-year-old Chihuahua arrived at the Johnson County Animal Control shelter in Indiana. Paco had lived with the same family for all of his life. Then, just before the holidays, his so-called family dumped him at the shelter due to issues of his aging. It was a bleak Christmas for poor Paco, with his life very much at risk.

A belated Christmas miracle unfolded for Paco on December 30th. Cindy Olweiler with Angels Among Us Animal Sanctuary in Pennsylvania was interested in taking Paco if RADAR could assist her rescue with vet costs. We agreed at once, and Paco was safe! The shelter staff were so thrilled with the prospect of Paco making it of the shelter alive that they covered his preliminary vet costs.

Paco arrived in Pennsylvania on January 18th. Cindy told us that “Paco is one of the sweetest dogs ever!” However, Cindy was concerned that he might have heart issues. He had his full vet exam, blood tests and x-rays done on January 22nd. The results revealed that he had a slightly enlarged heart and a significant heart murmur, but no fluid in his lungs. With medication, he should be good for a long time. And that’s good, since a family in Delaware was waiting to adopt him! After several weather delays. Paco arrived at his new home on February 8th. RADAR paid $239 for Paco’s vetting, blood tests and x-rays.
