Paige

Satchel Paige, known as possibly one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, once said this: “Don’t look back. Something might be gaining on you.” This Paige, a two to three-year-old Lab-Bully Breed mix, arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on January 8th, after coming from a home where she was neglected. Paige didn’t look back at her unfortunate past, and her sunny disposition never wavered. But sadly, something from her past had gained on her. Paige tested positive for heartworms, which would make it that much harder to be adopted or rescued.

On May 18th, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, requested our help with Paige. After living in limbo for over four months at the shelter, One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania spoke up for her, but only if she could have her heartworm treatment provided. We agreed to assist, and Paige was safe! She received her treatment on June 12th.

We were told this about Paige from her time at the shelter: “She is very sweet and friendly. She loves being loved and petted, and hopes her forever home is looking for a girl like her who enjoys getting affection from people. Paige enjoyed running in the exercise pen and was always up for a game of fetch. She’s so smart and even knows to bring the ball back so you can throw it again for her! She will also nicely “sit” when told. If you’d like to have the prettiest girl on the block with the personality to match, check out pretty Paige!” Click here to view more photos of Paige.

RADAR paid all of Paige’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $325.
