This Parker was not affiliated with Parker Brothers, so Sorry to say, he had no Monopoly on the fun and games like other dogs in loving homes. He had no Clue of how at Risk he was. A two to three-year-old Carolina Dog mix, Parker arrived as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on August 26th. Testing heartworm positive, Parker faced long odds of getting any rescue or adopter interest. Not surprisingly, he ended up on the shelter’s “Put To Sleep” list for October 17th.
As an incentive for a rescue to take Parker, on October 14th, RADAR provided an offer to cover his heartworm treatment costs. With Parker down to his final day, Almost Home Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take him! He had his heartworm treatment done on November 18th. Parker was in a foster home in South Carolina during his heartworm treatment preparation and recovery period. His foster fell in love with Parker and adopted him on December 4th!
This is what we were told about Parker when he was at the shelter: “There’s just so much to like about Parker! Let’s start with his endearing smile. He’s very considerate and mild-mannered around other dogs. He’s graced with just a touch of playfulness. He wags his tail a lot, which makes folks feel at great ease. He’s an easy to please fellow who is happy to be active, but then sit quietly by your side.” Click here to see more photos of Parker.
RADAR paid all of the heartworm treatment costs for Parker, totaling $252.
