Hi! It’s me, Pawley! Let me tell you my story. I’m a two or three-year-old Bully Breed mix. I was living on my own and having a tough time finding enough food when I was picked up as a very skinny stray by animal control on November 9th. I was taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. They named me after Pauly Shore. Why? I have no clue! While it was good to have the care, food and water that I needed, being at the shelter was no picnic. Talk about a stressful environment!
For over two months, I lingered at the shelter with no one showing any interest in adopting or rescuing me. I learned I had two big strikes against me: my breed mix and heartworms. This combination meant I might not make it out of the shelter alive. Then came some potentially good news on January 22nd: Out of the Pits rescue in New York was interested in taking me! There was just one big problem: the rescue could only take me if I received my heartworm treatment first, and that would cost a lot. Who could help me?
As it turns out, Susan Blakeney with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue could help me. She knew just who to ask: RADAR. Thanks to this group’s supporters, they were able to commit to help me, making my rescue a done deal! I got my heartworm treatment on February 7th. What a relief that’s done!
As for me, I’m a snuggler and cuddler, and I want to be your best friend. I love to get out and explore. I’ll admit I do pull a little on the lead when I get excited, but what I want most is just to be with my person. What you like is what I like, whether it’s long walks in the woods or just hanging out together and watching TV. I am a happy, easy-going guy who would fit well in a number of situations. I believe that laps were made for lounging. Do you have an empty lap? Click here to see more photos of me!
RADAR paid all of Pawley’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $294.
