The meaning of the name Penny in Greek is “flower,” which is perfect for this gentle little girl. Penny has an interesting story. On June 15th, a family of four Yorkie mixes, all between the ages of two and four, arrived at Duplin County Animal Services in North Carolina. Sadly, the owner surrendered Penny and her little family, and none of them were in great condition. They all needed to be shaved down, and they had bad ear infections. Of the four, Penny, Joy and Bolt were all heartworm positive.
On June 16th, Jennifer Watson with Ruby’s Misfits Animal Rescue in North Carolina, asked RADAR for help with Penny and the rest of her family. RADAR offered to assist in the cost of heartworm treatment for Penny, Joy and Bolt. Penny received her treatment on June 28th.
While they might look alike, each of these three pups has their own distinct personality. Penny is known as the cuddle bug. “She always wants to be on your lap or sleeping near you,” the rescue told us. “She loves giving kisses to everyone. She enjoys kids and other pets, even cats. She sleeps in the bed. She is crate trained, but she is so good she doesn’t need it. She is more of a couch potato. All she wants to do is love you.” To see more photos of Penny, click here.
RADAR paid all of Penny’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $167.
