Peonies are known to represent multiple meanings, including compassion. This Peony, a one-year-old Hound-Bully Breed mix, was much in need of some compassion when she arrived at the Columbus County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on September 19th. She had been brought in as a stray with a male dog named Alex, a one-year-old Lab mix. Sadly, they were both heartworm positive.
On October 10th, Madi Joselyn of the Burlington County Animal Alliance (BCAA) of New Jersey reached out to RADAR to see if we could help with both Peony and Alex. The rescue wanted to pull both of them from the shelter, but they needed assistance with the cost of their heartworm treatment. We said we would help with Peony and Alex, and they were safe! Peony received her heartworm treatment on November 18th.
In addition to compassion, peonies can also symbolize good fortune, which this Peony was lucky enough to find after going through some hard times. With the help of BCAA and RADAR, Peony got a chance at a new life! To see more photos of Peony, click here.
RADAR paid all $247 of the heartworm treatment costs for Peony.
