Sweet, sweet Pepe Le Pew! This approximately one-year-old Boxer-Cocker Spaniel mix is just a love bug. Like so many others, he was wandering and got picked up by animal control, who took him to the Coweta County Animal Control shelter in Georgia. We don’t know if he has brothers and sisters, and we don’t know where he once belonged. But we do know that he has a chemical burn on him. We don’t know if it was from a reaction to a flea application, or from one of the local gangs who have a history of chemically burning or setting fire to dogs and cats. (Midnight was a RADAR dog from earlier in 2012, who also suffered from burns possibly caused by gang initiations.) Pepe le Pew was always quiet in his cage, and wiggled and loved to scramble around when he was out of the cage. Well, now he’s out of the cage for good!
Pepe le Pew is one of 20 dogs who took part in the incredible “Underdogs Railroad Shuffle Off to Buffalo” transport on December 8th and 9th. The dogs were pulled from a high-kill shelter in Georgia, where volunteers got them vetted and provided temporary boarding. RADAR paid for the dogs’ transport to Buffalo, New York, where LotsaDogs Rescue received them and took them on the last leg of their long journey to Whitby, Ontario.
