Percy

It’s time to shed some light on poor Percy’s plight. At least ten years old and a Yorkshire Terrier, Percy was found as a stray. But because he is blind and unable to navigate by himself, it was believed that he was abandoned. He arrived at the Liberty County Animal Control Shelter in Georgia on May 25th. Percy had an infected right eye and was in dire need of extensive dental care. The shelter was no place for Percy.

On May 26th, Cheryl Garland with Coastal Pet Rescue in Georgia urgently requested RADAR’s help with Percy’s veterinary costs so that they could take him. We agreed at once. Percy was off to the vet for a thorough evaluation. He had a ruptured right eye that needed to be removed and several teeth that needed to be extracted. He remained hospitalized until his May 31st eye enucleation, dental treatment (including six extractions) and neutering. Weighing in at less than four pounds, Percy is probably RADAR’s smallest assisted dog!

Cheryl gave us this report on Percy on June 12th: “His stitches came out this morning and afterwards he spent some time in a luxurious bubble bath. We weren’t able to bathe him until now and he really, really needed it! He is very sweet natured and will make someone an excellent lap companion. I also wanted to share some great news with you: Percy is heartworm negative! Thank you again for your help. Percy thanks you, too!” To see more photos of Percy, click here.

RADAR paid $250 towards the dental treatment, eye enucleation and neutering costs for Percy.
