To paraphrase the nursery rhyme, “Peter, Peter dog treat eater, had a sister and both couldn’t be sweeter!” But the owners of Peter and his sister Hilda were at odds about keeping the four-year-old black Labs. The wife wanted to keep them, but the husband said they had to go. Sadly, the husband prevailed, and both dogs were surrendered on August 16th to the Chesterfield County Animal Services shelter in South Carolina. To make matters worse, both dogs were heartworm positive.
Erin Beller, the shelter’s volunteer coordinator, requested RADAR’s assistance for Peter and Hilda on August 27th. While Crate Escape in New York wanted to take both dogs, they needed financial help for their heartworm treatment. We agreed to cover the costs for both dogs. On October 1st and 2nd they had their heartworm treatment done. On October 19th they were transported to the rescue and placed in wonderful foster homes.
The rescue had this to share about Peter: “He is your all around typical goofy Lab boy! He loves anyone and everyone he meets, his tail is constantly wagging and he enjoys following his people wherever they may go. Peter would be an awesome companion for any moderately active canine friend. This goofy boy is 60 pounds of butt wiggles and tail wags!” To see more photos of Peter, click here.
RADAR paid all $289 of the heartworm treatment costs for Peter.
