Petie is hoping to be cast as Chance in an upcoming Homeward Bound remake and is looking for a Sassy and Shadow to be his co-stars. This four-year-old, 70-pound Bully Breed mix was an owner surrender to the Darlington County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on June 3rd. Not dissimilar to the Homeward Bound plot, Petie’s former owner tried to re-home him several times and each time he found his way back. Shelter staff were heartbroken for Petie when they discovered he tested positive for heartworms, reducing his chances of being adopted or pulled by a rescue.

One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania was interested in giving Petie an audition for a second chance with the condition that he be treated for his heartworms before making the trip north. Susan Blakeney with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue contacted RADAR for help with Petie’s heartworm costs on September 4th. We agreed to help and Petie got his heartworm treatment on September 19th and is one step closer to catching his big break.

Petie is excited to snag a role with a family that has lots of love to give. He is pretty low-key for a movie star, and has previously rolled with a cast of dogs including a Chihuahua and a Poodle. Petie is housebroken and has a very gentle way with little people given his larger size. Petie will continue to rehearse his lines so he is ready to go when a family looking to cast a handsome gentle giant touches base with his rescue! Click here to view more photos of Petie.

RADAR paid all of Petie’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $336.
