Without further ado, here’s Pru! Three years old and a Hound mix, poor Pru was a stray who was found caught in a trap and taken to the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on October 3rd. She was very thin and clearly had given birth to too many litters. She was also heartworm positive. But despite her rough life, she was always wagging her tail and giving kisses.

On October 12th, Gretchen Kozen, RADAR’s liaison with the shelter, requested our help for Pru. As an incentive for a rescue to take her, we provided an offer to assist with her heartworm treatment costs. The next day, Ruby’s Misfits Animal Rescue in North Carolina agreed to pull Pru. While she gained some much-needed weight, as it turned out, she was pregnant! After giving birth to her pups and weaning them, she was finally able to get her heartworm treatment done on April 4th.

“Pru has a one-of-a-kind personality,” the rescue told us. “She absolutely loves getting her belly rubbed. She is very fond of her foster dad and loves her foster siblings. She is a very sassy girl who loves to get all the attention. She would be such a great family dog and would love to have someone just rub her belly all day!” To see more photos of Pru, click here.

RADAR paid all $266 of the heartworm treatment costs for Pru.
