Randi had a “ruff” time until recently. On October 30th, this one to two-year-old Hound mix arrived as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Soon after animal control brought her in, she tested heartworm positive. With no adopter or rescue interest, on December 27th, Randi was placed on the shelter’s “put to sleep” list for January 3rd.
On December 27th, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, asked for RADAR’s help with Randi. We agreed and offered to cover Randi’s heartworm treatment as an incentive for a rescue to take her. A day later, To Love a Canine Rescue in Pennsylvania agreed to take Randi! She received her heartworm treatment on February 3rd.
Randi had a really rocky time of it when she arrived at the shelter. “Arriving very thin, Randi struggled to add some much-needed weight,” Susan told us. “However, she bounced around with endless energy in her kennel hoping someone would come by and play with her. She is so beautiful with her long legs and ears, and her markings complete her stunning package. Randi is happy to share her good times with other dogs and older kids as well. Expect a lot of love and sweetness from this Darlington beauty queen!” Click here to view more photos of Randi.
RADAR paid all of Randi’s heartworm treatment costs, totaling $240.
