Randy

Randy has quite the tale to tell about his tail! He is an approximately two-year-old Hound mix who was found abandoned in rural Tucker County, West Virginia. Two other Hound mixes were also found in close proximity to Randy, so it is likely that the same owner simply dumped them along a stretch of road. On March 10th, the three very emaciated dogs had the good fortune to be picked up by animal control and taken to the Tucker County Animal Shelter. Shelter manager Cathy Parsons provided the dogs with much-needed food, care and TLC.

Cathy realized immediately that Randy had a serious issue with his tail. At least two inches of his tail was bleeding and the bone was expose. Randy was taken to the vet. A small portion of his tail had to be amputated. During the surgery, he was also neutered. While Randy recovered nicely from the surgery, Cathy had no funds to cover the vet costs. Her small vet budget was depleted in the opening weeks of the fiscal year with two hoarding cases. Cathy asked for our help, both with Randy’s costs and to promote his availability to rescues and potential adopters. We agreed at once.

As for Randy, Cathy shared this with us about him: “Randy is the most humble dog. He loves everyone. When it is his turn to be out of his kennel, he follows the shelter workers around like a puppy! If they are washing dog dishes, there’s Randy; if they are folding covers and blankets, Randy’s right by their side! While his tail may be shorter, there’s no shortage of wags from this happy camper!” To view more photos of Randy, click here.

RADAR paid all $269 for Randy’s initial vetting, partial tail amputation and neutering costs.
