What did Raven think about her stay at the shelter? Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore!” This five-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever mix was picked up as a stray by animal control on August 30th. Raven ended up at the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (MAMAS) shelter in rural Bamberg County in South Carolina. Raven faced a few hurdles because she was a larger dog, a black dog, a somewhat older dog and a heartworm positive dog.
Pregnant Dogs & All Breed Rescue in Pennsylvania was interested in taking Raven if she could first be treated for her heartworms. On September 7th, the devoted folks at MAMAS reached out to RADAR to see if we could help. We agreed to cover Raven’s heartworm treatment costs, sealing the deal for her rescue commitment! Raven had her heartworm treatment done on September 13th, and was able to catch a transport to her rescue in Pennsylvania on September 24th.
“Raven is a sweet and friendly dog who also happens to be beautiful!” MAMAS told us. Her rescue had this to share about her: “Raven has a beautifully shiny long black coat and soulful brown eyes. She is gentle and very people-oriented. She will make a lovely pet.” Click here to view more photos of Raven.
RADAR paid all of Raven’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $170.
