Hi there! You can call me Red. I’m a two-year-old Bully Breed mix, and I’m also a proud new father! On June 13th, I strolled into the Duplin County Animal Shelter in North Carolina with my family in tow, after Animal Control picked us up. It was at the time of my arrival at the shelter that I learned about the fact that I tested positive for heartworms. Yep, it was bad news, since it would be more difficult for a rescue to take me in. But help was on the way!
On June 17th, my new friend Gretchen Kozen reached out to an organization called RADAR. She told me that the people at RADAR might be able to help cover the cost of my heartworm treatment. If they could do that, I’d be that much closer to ending up in my forever home. RADAR agreed, and I was pulled from the shelter and taken to Ruby’s Misfits Animal Rescue in North Carolina on June 19th. I got my heartworm treatment on June 28th, and I’m so thankful those little buggers will be out of my system!
I’m not one to brag or anything, but the nice people at the rescue think I’m pretty cool. My amazing foster even said this about me: “Red is as sweet as they come! He’s nothing but a gentle giant who just wants to love and be loved. He can be a bit timid, but once he opens up he’s a ball of fun! He enjoys the company of other dogs to run and play with. He loves to lay and give kisses. He melts in your lap!” To see more photos of Red, click here.
RADAR paid all $259 of the heartworm treatment costs for Red.
