How now Red Chow! Two years old and a Chow Chow mix, Red was surrendered to the Greenwood County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on September 1st. Unfortunately, Red tested positive for heartworms, which greatly impacted his ability to get adopted or rescued.

Mary Lou Seymour and the good folks with the Shelter Animals Advocates and its Heart Beat Goes On program immediately went to work to find a rescue for Red. On September 14th, Dog Star Rescue in Connecticut expressed interest in taking Red if funding could be found for his heartworm treatment. Mary Lou requested our assistance and we agreed to help.

On September 16th, Red received his heartworm treatment. December Clark, also with Shelter Animals Advocates and The Heart Beat Goes On, shared this with us about Red: “He’s a friendly and lively boy, with a typical Chow personality!” Click here to view more photos of Red.

RADAR paid all of Red’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $308.

UPDATE! Red has been adopted!
