Red has lived a life of abuse and neglect. His ears are mutilated from a previous owner attempting to crop them. His short tail illustrates the same harsh treatment. Any quick reaction near his face or body sends him cowering to the floor. A two to three-year-old Bully Breed mix, Red was surrendered to the Sampson County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on January 3rd. The combination of his breed mix and testing heartworm positive kept him lingering at the shelter for over three months.
On April 10th, Laura Roberts with Road Home Rescue in North Carolina requested RADAR’s help for Red. If we could assist with his heartworm treatment costs, Laura would pull him. “His warm disposition and sole desire to be loved on stole my heart,” Laura said. We agreed, and Red received his heartworm treatment on April 25th.
“Red is a very tenderhearted, loving boy,” his rescue told us. “He gets along well with both dogs and cats. He quickly became a shelter favorite among the staff. Fortunately, his previous abuse did not break his soulful, loving spirit toward humans. With great hope, Red will begin a new healthy life with a family who adores him.” Click here to view more photos of Red.
RADAR paid all of Red’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $232.
