Rihanna

Get ready to be starstruck by Rihanna. No, not by the singer of the same name, but by this cute canine sensation! Rihanna, a two-year-old Australian Shepherd mix, was picked up as a stray by animal control on March 12th. She was taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Everyone was certain that Rihanna’s family would come looking for her, but no such luck. To make matters worse, she was heartworm positive.

On March 29th, One Life to Live Rescue and Adoption in Pennsylvania spoke up for Rihanna! However, they could only take her if her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, requested our help, and we agreed at once.

Rihanna had her heartworm treatment done on May 7th. Without a foster home available to recover from her treatment, and the shelter too crowded and stressful, Rihanna was boarded until her transport on June 14th. RADAR and Darlington dog supporter Melissa Feeney generously donated to cover all of Rihanna’s boarding costs.

Susan had this to share about Rihanna: “She is such a lovely little lady! Rihanna is eye candy at its best, but it gets even better when you can reach out and touch her! Quietly shy but welcoming, she is a super sweet, very low key lady. She’s a breeze to walk on a leash. Rihanna is polite and friendly, and loves nothing more than to cuddle and have her belly rubbed!” Click here to view more photos of Rihanna.

RADAR paid all the costs for Rihanna’s heartworm treatment ($181) and temporary boarding ($190), totaling $371.
