Let’s tune in to “The Life of Riley” and watch this week’s episode: Riley, a two to three-year-old Labrador Retriever-Hound-Great Dane mix is found running as a stray and gets impounded at the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina on May 7th. Although he is well-mannered, neutered and house-trained, no one comes to retrieve him. He looks so lost in the shelter. The plot gets complicated when Riley tests positive for heartworms. He is not only homeless, but the only way he leaves the shelter alive is if a rescue pulls him. This makes him a death row dog.
Mary Lou Seymour of the Heart Beat Goes On program comes to Riley’s rescue on May 15th. Can Mary Lou make the difference between the life of Riley and the death of Riley? But first, a word from our sponsor: “Did you know that RADAR’s assistance is made possible with supporters like you?” Meanwhile, back to the show. On May 21st Mary Lou asks RADAR for assistance with the cost of heartworm treatment, as a rescue is interested but only IF funds are available. We agree to help. Pennsylvania Great Dane Rescue commits to taking Riley on May 29th.
Riley receives his heartworm treatment on June 3rd. His caregivers say that he is a gentle dog, a super nice boy who walks great on a leash. That’s a wrap! Tune in for more episodes of The Life of Riley! No animals were harmed in the making of this episode! To view more photos of Riley, click here.
RADAR paid all of Riley’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $315.
