Things got a bit rocky for Rocky when his owner had to move and could not take Rocky along. After striking out by trying to find a rescue willing to take Rocky, he was surrendered to the Kershaw County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on August 8th. Rocky is a very sweet and energetic six-year-old Basset Hound mix. Sadly, he had heartworms.
On August 31st, Stefanie McElveen with the Kershaw County Humane Society reached out to RADAR for assistance with Rocky’s heartworm treatment so that he could more readily get rescued or adopted. We agreed to help, and on September 25th he received his heartworm treatment. A few days later, Homeward Bound Pet Rescue in South Carolina committed to take Rocky!
Stefanie told us this about Rocky: “His short legs just make him more adorable! He’s great with dogs, kids and adults. He walks well on a leash and with a harness. He did well in play groups during the day and never seems to get tired!” Oh, and Rocky has a new name now that he’s with his rescue—Radar! His rescue tells us that he “is such a good boy. He’s being fostered with other dogs, cats and kids and is happy to be around them. Radar is playful, good natured and ready for a family of his own!” Click here to view more photos of Rocky.
RADAR paid $250 towards Rocky’s heartworm treatment costs.
UPDATE! All funds for Rocky have been raised! Thank you!
