Rather than Ring-a-round the Rosie, it was more like Rally-a-round the Rosie for this dog. On December 22nd animal control seized Rosie from her neglectful owners. The five-year-old Pit Bull mix was taken to the Blount County Animal Center shelter in Tennessee. Rosie was malnourished, neglected and anxious. She also tested heartworm positive, which made finding an adopter or rescue all the more difficult.
On January 31st, the shelter’s rescue coordinator, Kristin Baksa, asked RADAR for help with Rosie. Kristin told us that there had been many people interested in adopting her, but they all backed out when they learned about her heartworm status. We agreed to assist, and Rosie received her heartworm treatment on February 12th.
Kristin told us that “Rosie is a very affectionate little girl! She loves people and is playful and obedient. Since arriving at the shelter, Rosie has gained weight and is very happy to be around people. It seems like she doesn’t hold a grudge against people for the way she was mistreated in the past. She wants a home where she can lay on the couch with her family and be the center of attention!” To view more photos of Rosie, click here.
RADAR paid $250 towards the heartworm treatment costs for Rosie.
