It took a lot of moxie to save Miss Roxie! Three years old, this Corgi mix arrived on January 16th as a stray at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. As usual with most strays, no one came looking for Roxie. She would have been a prime candidate for rescue placement, but Roxie was heartworm positive.

To Love a Canine Rescue in Pennsylvania came forward to take Roxie on February 3rd! However, they could only do so if her heartworm treatment costs could be covered. RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, Susan Blakeney, asked for our help, and we agreed at once.

Roxie had her heartworm treatment done on March 4th. We learned this about Roxie from Susan: “She’s fun, bubbly, wiggly and jiggly! Roxie is very huggable and lovable. She’s playful with other dogs and totally cool with cats. Her tail keeps a steady beat. Roxie is always ready to go, and do, and explore, and expand her horizons. She’s a keeper!” To view more photos of Roxie, click here.

RADAR paid all of Roxie’s heartworm treatment costs totaling $194.
