In this bit of prose about Ruby Rose you’ll learn about her two health woes. The first health woe was that of her owner. On May 23rd, Ruby Rose was surrendered to the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina due to her owner’s health. But then this Chow Chow-Retriever mix faced her own health woe: Ruby Rose tested heartworm positive. Adoption is not an option for dogs with heartworms at this shelter. Her only way out alive would be if a rescue saved her.
On May 24th, Mary Lou Seymour of The Heart Beat Goes On program began seeking a rescue for Ruby Rose. Good Shepherd K9 Rescue in New York expressed interest in taking Ruby Rose on May 31st. But there was a catch: help was needed for her heartworm treatment costs. Mary Lou knew just what to do: ask RADAR for help. We agreed and Ruby Rose was safe!
Ruby Rose received her heartworm treatment on June 7th. December Clark, Mary Lou’s partner with The Heart Beat Goes On, had this to share with us about Ruby Rose: “She is timid and a little wary, but very sweet. She wants to trust, but is unsure of people. She is a beautiful girl!” Click here to view more photos of Ruby Rose.
RADAR paid all of Ruby Rose’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $350.
