Ruby is another gem of a dog from Darlington! Three to four years old, Ruby is a petite Beagle mix who arrived at the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina on August 14th. As cute as Ruby is, she had no adopter or rescue interest. Part of the problem was that she was heartworm positive.
On September 15th, Susan Blakeney, RADAR’s liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, asked for our help. The Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania offered to take Ruby IF her heartworm treatment cost could be covered. We agreed at once, and Ruby was safe! She had her heartworm treatment done on October 7th.
Susan told us that “this sweet and gentle little lady scoots around on her short little, bow-legged limbs and is just adorable. More mellow in her approach to life, she easily shared her kennel space with four other active dogs and was the one who quietly waited in the wings to be selected to head out for a walk. Ruby is a very dear little gemstone of a dog!” To see more photos of Ruby, click here.
RADAR paid all of Ruby’s heartworm treatment costs, which totaled $128.
