Rufus is a happy-go-lucky big guy who wasn’t so lucky before he arrived at the Blount County Animal Shelter in Tennessee. You see, Rufus was dumped in a very rural area by someone who didn’t take very good care of him, so of course he was heartworm positive. Little did this seven-year-old Boxer-Bully Breed mix know that June 3rd would be his lucky day, because he ended up at a shelter that wanted to help him!
RADAR’s liaison at the shelter, Kristen Baksa, contacted us for help with the heartworm treatment for Rufus, and we agreed. Rufus went home with a foster and had his treatment on June 27th. Now Rufus has a chance for the luckiest day of his life, when he finds his new home!
The staff at the shelter loved Rufus. According to them, “This big boy is just so darn cool! He is calm and self-assured. Nothing bothers him! He loves to be petted and showered with affection. He looked so happy riding in the front seat of his foster’s truck, like they’d known each other forever.” To see more photos of Rufus, click here.
RADAR paid all $404 of the heartworm treatment costs for Rufus.
UPDATE! All funds for Rufus have been raised! Thank you!
