Meet your new pal, Sal! Approximately two years old, this Treeing Walker Coonhound mix arrived at the Wythe County Dog Shelter in Virginia as a stray on December 5th. As just another Hound mix in a small rural shelter, things did not bode well for Sal. He only had until December 22nd to get adopted or rescued. That’s the last day before the shelter closed for Christmas, and any dogs left at the shelter would be euthanized.
Kathryn Haddock, a Wythe County Dog Shelter advocate, wasted no time in contacting RADAR about Sal (who was originally named Prancer). She asked for our help on December 5th, the same day Sal entered the shelter. We made an offer to assist with his vetting costs if a rescue would take Sal. With time running out, the Wythe County Humane Society pulled Sal on December 18th. He had his initial vetting done the same day.
If Sal could tell us a few things about himself, this is what Kathryn thinks he would say, “Sal, here. I’m a purdy cool guy, if I may say so myself! The humans tell me I’m not your typical Hound. Apparently, most Hounds have a lot to say. Me? I just like to watch and learn. What I’d like most is a couch to lie on and a human to cuddle up to. Yeah, I’m a couch potato!” Click here to view more photos of Sal.
RADAR paid all of Sal’s initial vetting costs, which totaled $113.
UPDATE! All funds for Sal have been raised! Thank you!
