Sweet and sad-faced Samantha arrived at the Fairfield County Animal Control and Adoption Center in Winnsboro, South Carolina as a stray on August 15th. A Beagle well into her senior years at 10 years old, Samantha was facing some serious struggles. Weighing only 12 pounds, she was very emaciated, and she tested positive for heartworms.
On August 20th, Patty Guthrie with Penny Angels Beagle Rescue in New Jersey reached out to RADAR for help with Samantha. The rescue was interested in taking her if we could assist with her vetting costs. Patty told us that while Samantha normally would have to wait 10 days for someone to claim her, the shelter had agreed to release her early for medical reasons. Patty told us, “this little girl had the longest nails and the saddest face that we couldn’t turn away from.” We agreed to help to seal the deal for Samantha. She had her initial vetting on August 22nd and was spayed on September 10th.
Patty shared with us that “Samantha is doing really well! She is eating like a racehorse (I assume they eat a lot). Her skin is clearing up nicely.” To see more photos of Samantha, click here.
RADAR paid all $231 of the initial vetting and spaying costs for Samantha.
