With a name like Sarge, if you ask to shake this dog’s paw, he just might salute instead! This three-year-old Pit Bull-Labrador Retriever mix arrived at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on January 17th. Sarge, along with his mother Mookie and his sibling Doc, were all brought to the pound together. But this was no “Home Sweet Home” for this family. With their ten-day grace period over, all three dogs were increasingly subject to being euthanized.

On February 1st, Susan Davis and her Sophie’s Safe Haven Animal Rescue in Maryland agreed to take Doc. With both Mookie and Sarge scheduled to be euthanized on February 6th, the shelter begged Susan to take both dogs to spare their lives. Luckily, Susan agreed and the entire family was safe!

Since RADAR had provided an offer on February 2nd to assist with Mookie’s vetting costs as an incentive for a rescue to take her, when we learned that Susan agreed to take Mookie’s two kids as well, we offered to cover the entire clan! Sarge had his initial vetting done on February 18th. All three dogs were transported to Maryland on February 22nd. Click here to view more photos of Sarge.

RADAR paid all of Sarge’s initial vetting costs of $64.

UPDATE! All funds for Sarge have been raised! Thank you!
