Saul is no oddball, just a friendly Labrador Retriever mix! This eight- to nine-year-old fellow was picked up as a stray, and arrived at the Vance County Animal Shelter in North Carolina on April 25th. This handsome black-furred dog didn’t have a gray hair in his coat, belying his age. He unfortunately tested positive for heartworms. Being a senior and heartworm positive were two strikes against him finding a forever home.
Karen Steers of Peak Lab Rescue in North Carolina saw beyond Saul’s years to the dog within. The rescue wanted take Saul from the shelter, but his heartworms would need to be treated. Karen asked RADAR for help with Saul’s heartworm medical costs on May 4th and we agreed to assist. Saul had his heartworm medicine injections on June 25th and 26th.
Saul is a low-maintenance and well-behaved dog. His foster family says he gets along well with the resident dogs, is great with children, and likes anyone he meets. He doesn’t jump up on people when saying hello and is wise enough to leave shoes and slippers alone! He sits for treats and doesn’t pull on his leash. Saul is perfectly behaved when left uncrated. He’s a loyal boy who wants more than anything else just to be loved and given the opportunity to show you what a great dog he can be. To see more photos of Saul, click here.
RADAR paid all $418 of the heartworm treatment costs for Saul.
