Scotty is ready to stop stressing! Somewhere between three and four years old, this Pit Bull mix ended up at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina as a stray on April 17th. For months, poor Scotty had to endure anxiety over life at the shelter, and due to his constant stress, he ended up losing 10-12 pounds. Having been there for such a long time and also testing heartworm positive, Scotty was at risk of being put to sleep on October 17th.
Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, the Maple Leaf Mutts rescue in Vermont took an interest in him. On October 6th, Gretchen Wolf with the rescue contacted RADAR to see if we could help assist in the cost of Scotty’s heartworm treatment. We agreed, and he was safe! Scotty was pulled from the shelter on October 9th, and he received his heartworm treatment on October 16th.
Jennifer Adkins, a volunteer who helped care for Scotty at the shelter, said this about him: “Scotty is a great fetch. He also does not mind if you dress him up in silly hats. He loves squeaky toys and will carry them around!” Other volunteers had this to say: “He is such a pleasant dog. He is an obedient, joyful pup. He has personality galore and would be a playful addition to a family.” Click here to view more photos of Scotty.
RADAR paid all $216 of the heartworm treatment costs for Scotty.
